What we do < audience
engagement
Time and time again research studies show that customers / suppliers
/ stakeholders
and other relevant groups want better communication from companies
and organisations.
People want to know what's going on; what you're doing; what you're
thinking and what you're doing to address their concerns. Or at
least they want to know that the information
is readily available and that they know where to go for it. Of course,
they'll never offer this insight to you so the theme will never
show up on a 'what our audience wants' analysis.
True engagement comes only when your audience needs you - which
is more of a necessary element rather than engagement - or when
they are sufficiently familiar with you to follow your lead.
Lack of an audience engagement strategy has a direct impact on company
/ organisation reputation: nice people, good products or services
but poor communication. In commercial relationships this enables
competitors a chance to zip past you; in stakeholder relationships
you won't have as much credibility or influence as you'd like or
need.
Audience engagement is about identifying those you need to communicate
with, segmenting them into their natural groups and creating the
programmes to reach out to each one. Regularly and consistently.
